As you may already know, October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is very common during this time of year to see people wear pink ribbons to show their support for finding a cure for this disease, and perhaps serve as a reminder to someone who hasn’t been screened for breast cancer.
Here at ID Edge we also help companies show their solidarity by offering a variety of breast cancer awareness lanyards, badge reels, and even badge holders. Although raising awareness and donating money to find the cure is very important, it’s really not enough. What’s vitally important is to actually see a doctor and get screened for this disease. The way to fight cancer is to start with yourself.
Certainly, the screenings and tests may not be the most comfortable procedures on the planet – which is one of the reasons why women may delay seeing a doctor. But let’s get real…According to the American Cancer Society approximately 1 in 8 American women will develop this disease. Out of those that do, roughly 3% will lose their battle with breast cancer.
This makes it vital to catch breast cancer early, so that treatment can start before the cancer has spread to the rest of the body.
That is why this October ID Edge would like to encourage you to not simply show your support for breast cancer awareness with lanyards or badge reels, or to simply write a check for the cause and call it a day – but to do something about the problem by getting screened for breast cancer. It starts with you. If you save your own life by getting an early diagnosis and treatment, then you’ve made a dent in this fight.
