Lanyard Options
Lanyards are a wonderful way to display a badge or an ID card for several reasons.
Firstly, lanyards keep the badge easily visible at all times. This makes them a perfect choice for large organizational settings or for situations where there is a large group of people who may not know each other (like at events). This way, people can identify each other easily, and security can have an easier time for identifying people who aren’t authorized to be in a venue.
- Standard Lanyards: The most basic lanyard option is a cloth woven material, much like a shoe string, that is worn around the neck and has a clip on the end where an ID card or a badge holder can be attached. These are a great choice for settings that don’t operate heavy machinery and where there’s virtually no likelihood of someone grabbing the lanyard (like at a correctional facility or a hospital).
- Break Away Lanyards: These are a step above a standard lanyard in that they have a special clasp that comes apart with a small amount of pull. If the lanyard was to become stuck in a machine, or if someone was to pull on it, the clasp will disengage, thus preventing any injury to the wearer.
- Lanyard/Badge Reel Combination: In some cases, a lanyard can even be combined with a badge reel on the end, to extend the wearer’s reach.
