From time to time, we like to dedicate special attention to ID printing technology that combines a ton of useful features into one package. This month, we’d like to tell you all about the Zebra ZXP 7 printer model. It’s an ID printer that’s packed with a wide range of features, and delivers a huge bang for your buck. Let’s take a look at what makes the Zebra ZXP 7 model so special.

Fast Printing

One of the first things customers notice about the Zebra ZXP 7 model is the high speed printing capability. We’re talking about 300 single sided cards per hour, in full color. That’s one card every 12 seconds. This makes ZXP model a wonderful choice for high capacity printing situations.

To accommodate this high volume, the printer comes with a 200 card input feeder, and a 100 card output hopper. But that doesn’t mean you can only use it for high volume printing. If you need to print a card on the fly, Zebra ZXP 7 has a single card input slot!

Helpful Tip:  Don’t take the blank ID cards out of the package until you’re ready to start printing. This will reduce chances of the cards collecting dust or other residue, and will keep your printer cleaner longer!

Card Thickness Adjustments

Zebra ZXP 7 makes it very easy to switch between cards of different thickness, because the printer automatically detects this measurement. Zebra did a really great job adding in this feature, because it improves print quality and helps reduce human error.

Helpful Tip:  When loading cards into the Zebra ZXP 7 input feeder, you will notice a spring. When you add the cards in, don’t guide the spring gently into place. Instead, let it snap against the cards. This will help ensure the cards are stacked properly.

Zebra ZXP 7 Operator Control Panel

The Zebra ZXP 7 printer comes with an easy to use LCD display. On the one hand, it’s a simple feature, but one that can make your life a lot easier. It can assist you with the setup process, guide you during cleaning, and gives you clear instructions so that you’re never stuck trying to figure out what steps to take next.

Ease of Ribbon Use

One feature that doesn’t get nearly enough attention is the ease of use when it comes to changing the ribbon. Some printer models are not as straightforward in this process and have very tight spaces for the ribbon holder – this can make removing and inserting the ribbon quite difficult. The Zebra ZXP 7, however, makes is super easy to change the ribbon – you simply lift up the old ribbon and lower the new one into the ribbon drawer.

Helpful Tip:  Don’t forget to remove the ribbon when cleaning your printer!

Optional Encoding

If you’d like your cards to be encoded with important information, Zebra ZXP 7 has optional capability for encoding smart chips (contactless and contact), as well as magnetic stripes. It’s a very easy feature to use with this printer and requires very little training.

Zebra ZXP 7 Lamination

The Zebra ZXP 7 printer has great lamination options for organizations that need to give their card an added layer of protection. This optional feature can be seamlessly integrated into the printer and can provide either single sided or dual sided lamination.

Helpful Tip:  If you’re using cards with magnetic stripes or security chips, make sure you get laminate with cutouts to accommodate these features.

Ethernet Connectivity

The built in Ethernet connectivity of Zebra ZXP 7 printers makes it very easy to integrate into your network. This reduces set up time and allows you to start printing quickly. If you buy your printer from ID Edge, we’ll even walk you through the process.

Physical Locks

This little-known feature of Zebra ZXP 7 gives you an added measure of security against unauthorized access. It’s a physical security complement to your virtual security features, like passwords and biometric computer access.

Is Zebra ZXP 7 Right for Your Organization?

The Zebra ZXP 7 printer is an amazing, state-of-the-art machine. However, it’s not the right choice for every organization. If you’re looking for a new ID card printer, it’s very important that the features match your needs – this will help you maximize your budget dollars.

For example, an organization that prints just a few cards per month may not benefit from this printer. But if you have the need for large quantity printing with advanced security features, then Zebra ZXP 7 can do wonders for ID badge quality and efficiency.
